Crummett, Crommett, Cromet, Crummet. It is my belief that these names all ariginated from the name Cromwell. Our family legend says that a remmitance man came to the new wold in the seventeenth century and changed his name by invertiing the w and crossing the ll's. Later the name was slurred to form other spellings. No Crommetts or Crummetts are found in the London, Dublin, or Edenburough directories.
