The Crew Family of Cheshire had a Coat of Arms and the Cruise Family of Devonshire had a Coat of Arms. Both families appear to be from the same early Cheshire family
that is said to be "a west of England family when The Conqueror Came". There were two men in Cheshire that received arms, David and Patrick. The Devonshire soldier was a David Cruise. (Patrimonica Britannica).
