I am a descendent of Thomas (Crews) Cruse through his daughter Elizabeth. He was married to Rachel Barnhill in Kentucky (you can find their marriage record fairly easily). Rachel was the daughter of Hannah Boone (born in Boonesboro, a cousin to Daniel Boone) and James Barnhill. Elizabeth Cruse married Stephen Hansford in Daviess County, KY. The information I have is that Thomas Cruse was murdered in Yellowbanks (now Owenboro), Kentucky on election day by Mr. Potts, and it was a case of mistaken identity. He was the first man murdered in Owenboro. I have no information on him going to Missouri, and I doubt that he did since he was only 26 when he died and all his remaining immediate family stayed in the Owensboro, KY area at least until adulthood. Perhaps one of Elizabeth's brothers went to Missouri when he was grown. Rachel Barnhill Cruse later married Jasper Bristow in Daviees County, KY and is buried in Daviess County, KY. I found most of my information at the library in Owensboro, and history books of Daviess County, Ky. I would love to have any more information on Thomas Cruse. I have a lot of information on my ancestors, except him. I would like to know his parents' names. mpayne1021@insightbb.com
