Hi Dianne and everyone,

I'm sorry that I haven't been diligent in continuing to check this web site.

Dianne, can you email me off-list?

Through the expert mentoring I was so lucky to have shared with another wonderful researcher, she was able to educate me in using tax records to determine Anderson's birth year and she encouraged me to be diligent enough to plow though very interesting but hard to read court records that told us that by August 30, 1824 my great great great grandma Nancy Lynch Crews was his widow. We havaen't yet been able to learn how Anderson died. We pretty much know what happened early on to Levina's children; and Nancy and their two girls, Malivina and my grandma Emily left Kentucky for Missouri with her Lynch family, where it appears Nancy married her first cousin, John Lynch. I haven't been able to locate a marriage record, but census seems to lean toward that scenario, as does John's will, which mentions his wife Nancy (unfortunately no maiden name, naturally!). The ages for Nancy and her girls match for the 1830 census with him, so for now that's what I think happened to her. It sure explains why she's been so hard to find! Since she married a 2nd time and went back to her maiden name, that would make her almost impossible to track! I do have death dates for both John and Nancy (again I have to look them up) but I haven't been able to find anyone locally who can take photos of their graves, even tho we do know where they are buried.

There is at least one correction that I must make to the information provided here, regarding Malvina Crews Myers. She was my grandma Emily's sister and she passed away here in Helena, MT. I believe there must have been two Malvina's, the other remaining in Missouri...I'll pull out her death certificate and confirm this for you.

I still have not been able to discover who Anderson's parents were, but we suspect his father may have been Thomas Crews, and that Anderson had a brother, James, I think was his name. I'm typing this from memory, so, again, I'll have to pull my records and confirm. We think this based on some land records and naming patterns of Anderson's sons from his first marriage to Levina Williams. I like to suspect that Anderson's mum may have been an Amanda or Malvina since those two female names seem continuous in the family....

I have read through almost all of the court records pertaining to Anderson (and there were about a dozen of them!), so maybe the mystery will be solved when I finally make it through reading the rest of them. There really is only one land record specific to Anderson, which took place before Levina passed away, I think. I've tried all the local newspapers hoping for some kind of story about how/why Anderson died so young...nothing. And it's a little disconcerting that both Thomas and James disappear from Madison county tax records right about 1824 too...for some unknown location...

Again, Dianna, will you email off list? Thanks for doing it.

Rita
