Martin-
My great, great grandfather was Bartholomew Cunnane from Knock, Mayo Co., Ireland. He left sometime in 1850 for America. On the voyage over, he met Margaret Mullaney from Ireland and they fell in love. They arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana and then from there went to Indiana, Missouri, and then pioneered west to southern California and settled Santa Barbara County. I am trying to trace his line back into Ireland. He also went by the nickname "Bartly". I have a letter from Joseph Cunnane, an Archbishop of Tuam who suggests our nearest relative would be Joe Cunnane of Derrybrack, Kilkelly, in County Mayo. Joe Cunnane's father was also named Bartly. Does this help? Please contact me at cpurvesbaker@yahoo.com - I am anxious to hear from you.
