Dear Monica,
I had been looking for my godmother, Viola Gibson, who had been adopted by my g-aunt, Mary Gibson (nee Hester), born in Co. Roscommon. I finally found Mary and her husband Richard, my godfather and namesake, in the 1920 Census with a "Boarder" named Viola Cunnane, born in early 1918. There were two other Boarders, a few years older so I think Mary was caring for children whose parents were unable to do so themselves. If you have any info on this Viola's parents, it would be appreciated.
As to your search, I believe you will find that both Knock and Clairemorris are in Roscommon, not Mayo. I only visited Ireland once, about 20 years ago, but we stayed in a friend's house, outside of Clairemorris on the road to Knock. Have you tried the Leitrim-Roscommon website?

Dick Hester
