Melissa Higgins was born 1879, the daughter of Asa Higgins and Ella Ostrander of Willow, Ulster County NY, later settling in Hunter, Greene County NY. She married Andrew Becker b. 1873 and had 3 daughters, Eva b 1898, Mandy(Amanda) b.1899, and Etta b. 1901.
When Andrew died, she married Edward Augustus Curtis b. 1882, and had 4 children: Anne b. 1906, Milton b.1907, Doris b.1913 and Wesley b. 1917.
In her obituary dated February 26, 1942, her daughters are listed as Mrs. Paul Traphagen, Mrs. Mark Goodrich, Mrs. Robert Shultis, Mrs. Victor Benjamin (All of Hunter) and Mrs. Sleeth of Accord.
Mrs. Paul Traphagen was Eva Becker, Mrs. Mark Goodrich was Eva's sister Etta, and Mrs. Victor Benjamin was Doris Curtis. I haven't been able to locate Mrs. Robert Shultis or "Mrs. Sleeth". One is Mandy(Amanda) Becker and the other is Anna Curtis, but I can't figure out which is which. Anyone have any ideas?
