Elijah Dalbey was the illigitimate son of Rev. Joel Dalbey born 27 June 1777 in Hampshire County West Virginia. His mother was a Parrell. Her first name is unknown. Joel married Elizabeth Smith in 1797 and Nancy Curry in 1834. He had twelve children by Elizabeth and seven children by Nancy. He died 10 Mar 1859 in Frankfort, Clinton County, Indiana.
