12-17-2000 Searching D'Angelo in Abruzzo

My name is Thomas D'Amico.

I am searching for information on D'Angelo relatives in Abruzzi, Italy, and beyond. My grandfather Pasquale D'AMICO (1893-1966) came to Hartford and then settled in New Britain, CT, in the early 1900s. He came from Musella Chieti, Abruzzo. His wife, Maria D'ANGELO (1887-1926), came from Tocca Casario, Villa Mareno, Italy, in Abruzzo Province. Family folklore has it that Musella Chieti and Tocca Casario were on opposite sides of a mountain. He met her in Tocca Casario where she sold the "best bread in world." She had eight brothers and sisters (Rowena D'Angelo (1889-1892), Roserio D'Angelo (1891-1956), Vincent D'Angelo (1893-1933), Eustaccio D'Angelo (1895-1971), Carmella D'Angelo Desimone (1897-1969), Lucia D'Angelo (1909-probably deceased), Natucci D'Angelo (1903-probably deceased), and Pasquale D'Angelo (1905-1974)).

Her father was Dominic D'ANGELO (1868-1936) and her mother was Loretta RISSCHITELLI (1870-1969). Family folklore has it that Dominic was descended from Duke D'Angelo of England who had come by the title through his great-grandfather who had served in England in the early 1800s in the Napoleonic wars and retired to Italy in the 1830s. They owned a bakery. As far as I know they both remained in Tocca Casario, Italy.

Thanks, Tom D'Amico
