Darroch Family Genealogy Forum

Hello Steve, Your Robert may be one of the sons (or another relative) of the Darrach family that came to Auckland in 1864 in the "Pakeha" from Nova Scotia. They moved to Maharangi in 1866 and built boats on the other side of the Te Kapa inlet from George and John Darroch. They are often confused with the Darroch family, but are not related. The Darrochs came from Glasgow on the Jane Gifford in 1842, and the son Robert drowned before he married. I suggest you check the Auckland arrivals index in the Auckland Public Library. It will show the 1864 Darrachs' names (the fathers' name was John and one son's Malcolm, but there were more than one son) and Robert Darrch's elsewhere if he arrived separately. Cheers Peter
