Kay: Thanks for your reply. I have photo copies of the relevant parts of Mary Mae Campbell's book, but unless I missed something when I was copying, I believe she says that Sophia was born in Maryland. I also have copies of about the first 35 pages (plus selected pages concerning Charity Death Coulson's descendants) of the unpublished manuscript at the Carnegie Library in Pittsburg, which does have her birthplace as Scotland, but doesn't document it. Anyhow I will check out the sources you listed. By the way, if you are interested in what I have of the unpublished manuscript I would be glad to send you a copy. Thanks again.
