I am researching the family of John DaCosta, born in Liverpool, England in 1822. He married Margaret Kershaw in 1844. He was a Shipowner and known as a "Portuguese Merchant Prince". In 1861/62 he built one of the most imposing mansions in Crosby where he lived with his large family of nine children. One of his daughters I beleive to be my grandmother (Mary) but as she was unmarried at the time of his birth the baby was given for adoption in 1889. Later, in 1900 Mary married Fortunato Henry Valseechi in London where the family had gone to live. I wonder if anyone has any information about this family and if so I would be delighted to hear from them.
