I have information about Robert Walker Derum and his wife Prudence. I am looking for information about their parents.
Robert Walker Derum was born in Texas 16 Jan 1853; he died 25 Jan 1920. He is buried in the Helena Cem., Helena, Karnes Co., TX, next to his wife. According to the 1900 and 1910 US censuses, his father was born in Tennessee and his mother was born in Arkansas.
Robert married Prudence D., 17 Oct 1889, in Helena, Karnes Co., TX. Prudence, also known as Prudie, was born 12 Jun 1863, in TX; she died of malaria 27 Feb 1923, in Austin, Travis Co., TX, and was buried in the Helena Cem. Prudence, according to her death certificate, was the daughter of Jack Scoggins ( although her daughter's death certificate lists Prudence's madien name as Wilson) and Palina Schott (although census records indicate her mother's name was Sarah or Sallie.) Prudence was the widow of James Elder. They were married in Helena, 11 Oct 1882, and has three children (James M., Fayette and Seidel) before James died in 1885.
Robert Derum owned and worked a farm in Karnes Co. From census records, it is known that he and his family resided in Karnes Co. in 1900 and 1910, and in Karnes City, Karnes Co. in 1920.

ii. Lee, born 11 May 1895, died 11 Jan 1897; bur. Helena Cem.
iii. Andres, born 5 Oct 1897, died 15 Mar 1898; bur Helena Cem.
iv. Grace May, born 4 Apr 1899, died 15 Oct 1903; bur Helena Cem.
v. Pauline, born 26 May 1901, died 1 Mar 1976 in Karnes City, Karnes Co., TX; married Frank Haskins Ruckman 27 Jul 1922; both bur Karnes City Cem.
vi. Anne B., born Sep 1898
vii. Joseph, born 1906
viii. Roberta, born 1908
Pauline was my great grandmother.
I have some photos from the cemeteries.
