I would definitely check Maryland. I am a DeVaughn from Baltimore and have lots of relatives there. My grandfather had lots of sisters and brothers, most of whom are unknown. His name was Edward,and he married an eastern shore resident (mary elizabeth) daughter of Carrie Wright. They had 8 children, who has about 30 grandchildren and 100+ great grandchildren. Maryland would be a good place to start, as well as north carolina.
