Hi Jacquelyne,

Carl Linton DeVaughn Sr. (b. Sep. 16, 1877, d. July 24, 1933) was my paternal grandfather.

Although, I believe yours is the second reference I have seen on the subject of Carl having a child by an African American woman, I have seen (nor heard) no other evidence of this.

I have seen evidence that Carl's grandfather (Elijah) fathered a son by his African American slave on the plantation in Jonesboro, Georgia. I have a good deal of information on this.

I don't discount the possibility of Carl fathering your great-grandfather. Do you have any other information (e.g. residence of your gg-grandmother (Walker), DOB for your g-grandfather, etc.) ?
