Hi Margaret,

I might have some connecting information for you. My family is also connected to the DeVaughn line out of Fairfax County (Alexandria), Va.. However, the oldest person that I can document is my Great-Great-Great Grandfather who was John DeVaughn, born in 1792 and died Aug. 11, 1837 in Alexandria, Va.. He married Nancy Caddis on Mar. 21, 1816. As far back as 1782, the DeVaughn family was listed in Fairfax County. It is possible that his parents were Jonathan DeVaughn (spelled in records as DeVann) and Rebecca Jaens who married Jan. 1792 in Alexandria in the First Presbyterian Church.
