This may be some info you don't have - from the book The Mitchell-Doak Group by Harry E. Mitchell.
John Tate married Mary Mitchell in Chester County PA. Will proved April 1 1801 Augusta County Ca. He died in March of 1801. Settled near North Mountain, Oct. 1744.
Children were: (1) Thomas Tate b. 1740 Botetourt Co. VA. Died 1833. Married Jean Campbell in 1764. She baptized 4/2/1749 died 1833. (2) James Tate born about 1744 died 3/15/1871. Married Sarah Hall born in 1751. (3) Eleanor Tate born 1747 died 1801. Married in 1770 Benjamin Stuart, born in 1736 died 1808. (4) Gen. William Tate, a Doctor. Married Nancy Agnes Mitchell of Philadelphia. Moved from Augusta CO Va to Washington CO VA in 1783. (5) Robert Tate born 1753 died 1832 . Married 1775 Margaret Alexander McClung. (6) Col. John Tate, Jr. born 1749. Died 1802 buried Tinkling Spring. Alumnus of Augusta Academy, legislator, sheriff of Augusta Co. Known as Senior Tate. married 1774 Jane Steele, died 1834.
(7) A Tate daughter, believed to have married Francis Beatty Jr. No record. (8) Jane Tate No record. Book has futher info through the 7th generation. Hope this helps!
