Am seeking relatives and others who have knowledge and history to share on the DOWLAND family. My great-great grandfather, James Dowland b. 1822, born and lived in Warwick, Orange County, New York until about 1855. About 1855 to approximately 1870 they moved to Onondago County, NY. About 1870 they moved to Van Buren County, Michigan where James and his wife Emily resided for the rest of their lives. James and Emily were married in Warwick, Orange County, NY abt. 1845. They had eight children that I know of :
Mary Eth. Dowland, b.1846;Elizabeth Dowland, b. unk. who married Henry Barnes in 1866;Charles H. Dowland, b. abt. 1849 married Ida ? in 1870; Carrie F. Dowland, b. approx. 1854 who married Orlano S. Kinney in 1880; David "Daniel" Dowland, b.appro.1855 married Olive Sternaman in 1885; Ellen Jane Dowland, b. approx. 186? married Charles Aderly Southard in 1879;Richard Lee Dowland, b. approx. 1859 married Sophia Hodges in 1883; and James,Jr., b. abt. 1870?.
