Searching for any information on Downers of Buffalo, NY. Jane(Jennie)Williamson married a Downer. Dates unknown but she was born in 1848 in Moray, Scotland (parents James M. And Margaret Kitchen Williamson) We have a portrait of Jane (Jennie) Downer.It is of Jane , her husband , 3 sons and a daughter. We know the daughter was Grace M. Downer. She appears to be the youngest child. Poss. second to youngest. We also have 3 seperate photos of Grace M. Downer. On the back of two are written........Grace M. Downer Sept. 22, 1894. If this is the yr. of birth, then she was born when her mother was 46 (not uncommon then). We have searched for this family for a long time. We know where they came from and we know they were in Buffalo, NY. The two photos of Grace say "Schmid.........Main and Genesee Sts. ........Buffalo, NY." The larger portrait of the family was taken at "Bliss Bros Photograph" which was in existance from ?1861-1881?
Can any one help? I am taking a trip to Scotland soon and wanted to take info of the "family who came to the states" with me. Jane Williamson Downer is our missing "child" Thanks, Marj. Agnew-Edlen
