Can anyone provide any additional information about the following DOWNER brothers?
William DOWNER born 1835?? lived in British Guiana [Guyana] in 1881; he had a wife named Plummie; children Mabel, Teddy, Walter.
Richard Clarke DOWNER born about 1838; married Anna Maria PEARSON 15 Mar 1881 in Melcombe Regis, Dorset.
Richard was a Master Mariner and worked as an ivory and palm oil trader in West Africa [Nigeria, Gabon] from 1869-76. He died 8 months after his marriage when his ship sank off the coast of Cornwall.
His son Ernest Walter Gordon Ross Clarke DOWNER [known as Billie] was born 8 Mar 1882 at Wolstanton, Stafford. Billie married Ellen ROSSER [my great aunt] 29 Jun 1910 at Llanfrechfa, Monmouth.
