Dear Lowell,
Thanks to your posting in December of last year, I have some Downer children's initials that can get full names now! Per the 1900 census, the W B Downer family was only listed with initials.
Your grandfather, Avery, is brother to my sons' great-grandfather, Leslie L. (You listed him as Lyman L., but twisted names or not, they are one in the same).
I haven't info on Avery's wife, but I can tell you that Wyatt married Mary Louise Holbrook in Warren County IL on November 25, 1875.
Altho what I have found to-date is not much, if I can pass on any other information, don't hesitate to ask.
