Dave & Patrice,

Perhaps you have realized by now that Jonathan Downard IS Jonathan Downer - Jonathan Downer and his wife Druscilla Springer lived in Uniontown, Fayette Co. PA and his house which he built himself brick by brick, making the bricks himself over 17 years, is still standing today and is being used as a gift shop/tourist stop I believe - there is information about it online complete with a picture. I am away from my records at the moment but can let you know about it if you contact me. He had a bunch of kids, I have all their names (records also at home, I'm at work at the moment)including my ancestor Elizabeth Downer who married Thomas Singer in Scioto Co. OH. I am interested in fact in finding out if any of the other Downers besides her brother Levi also went to Ohio and why she as a young single woman would have gone there - her parents both died and were buried in Uniontown, Fayette Co. PA - did she perhaps go there with brother Levi or more of the family members???
Jonathan's father was Jacob Downer who brought his family to Fayette Co. PA and then he himself went to scout out the area south in present day West Virginia and was probably killed by indians and never returned. His mother was Ann Gaddis I believe - I am happy to share whatever I have on the family. I can't remember without my records whether there was a son David - but I'm fairly sure that there was - if not he was a cousin - same family one way or the other.

Susan Gall
