William Downer 1745 and others

Hello:
I came across a will of William Downer dated 12/10/1745.
He was living in Brunswick in New Hanover County, North Carolina.
In this will he leaves all his property to be shipped to England, to Alegate and Wapping in the city of London.
He leaves his property to a William Wynn and his wife Ruth and to Benjamin and Mary Sandwell in Wapping London, near Execution Dock.
Also in the Library of Virginia archives I came across several Downer names, most of who appear to be either English merchants or sailors.
These names include: John Downer, residence Caroline Co., Va.
James Downer, an English merchant, date 1678
Samuel Downer, Sailor, date 1739
William Downer, ddate 1718
Robert Downer, Norfolk England (I think) date 1677
Edward Downer, date 1635
Does any of these names seem familar to anyone, or does anyone have these listed in their family?
I am related to the Anson County Downer family, but feel certain that these would be related since they are in the general area.
Thank you for any attention to this matter.
