There are so many Elijah Dungans out there that I really get confused, and I haven't worked this line in 2 or 3 years so it will take me awhile to get back in the swing. There is and Elijah Dungan that married in Monroe Co. Mo. in 1865, to young to be our Elijah, but I wonder who his parents are. Then there is a Garland A. Dungan, b. 1829 who came from Kentucky to California in 1850 with an ox-team. After 2 years spent at hangtown (now Placerville) he journed to Humboldt County, where he settled near Ferndale, In 1863 he went to Iowa and married and then returned to California. The Dungan Memorial Grove located on the Redwood Highway is named after him. I wonder who his parents are, but have not looked. Back to our Elijah. The records you state are about like the records I have, nothing concrete. Both state a good case for either event. I hope that when you go to do some research in Chaffee County that maybe you came turn up an obit or something that will give us some to base our beliefs on. I have heard that George Dungan, Elijah father had to leave Pulaski County in a hurry (don't have anything to base this on, only a gentleman in Pulaski County seemed to remember hearing this). I will continue to dig into information in Audrain County to see if I can find out anything. My line Carol Johnson/Gary Brentlinger James Thomas Johnson/Carrie Clifton Hecke Mitchell Johnson/Laura Tillitha Dungan James R. Dungan/Amanda McDannald Elijah Dungan/ Lucinda Reed George Dungan/Nancy Neal Jeremiah Dungan/Remembrance Cole? Notify Administrator about this message?
