Do post on Slovak Republic's Genforum board since you mentioned that he spoke Slovak.
The word Saros refers to a megye/county Saris in Slovak.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Saros but you need to locate a precise name of a village in order to proceed with the research. Currently there are 17 phone listing in SK's phone book for the surname DZ'AMBA and DZAMBA.
www.zoznamst.sk (type zero in area code). I would say that area code 54 (Bardejov) might be the place to start as that is the Saris region.
