RE: John S. Eakes and Alley Moore: The inscription on the tombstone said she was born Nov. 28, 1858 and died Nov. 11, 1961. That is 103 years. (Info. from William Carl Eakes visit to cemetery.) However... that does present a problem for me as I show that John S. Eakes Married Alley Moore on 12 Dec 1867 in which case she would have been married at age 9 so something seems amiss here.. Can you elaborate on your marriage info for John S. Eakes and Wife/wives??? It would seem more likely that Alley Moore married to an Elixson and then to John S. Eakes or vice versa.. Given the uniquenes of the name Alley.. it seems unlikely that he had two wives with that name.. though certainly not impossible. I suspect, however, that the cemetery marker was perhaps not clear and that Alley's dob is probably earlier in lieu of the marriage date.. but if so she would have been quite old at time of death.. so definitley needs to be investigated further... What marriage date do you have for John S. Eakes and Alley and can you document it? If anyone else has seen this marker I would appreciate any information regarding the dates or the condition of the marker that might explain these questions.
