Samuel Eakin, Sr. Signed the paper with his mark that he had known Maria Holt for some time and swore that she was of the age of 18 yrs at least so that she could marry Samuel, Jr. I have a copy of the marriage certificate, but it doesn't give her parents or sibling. I have found one picture of her and Samuel, Jr. in their later years. It is said that she was a bonded woman, therefore, I think that she was an orphan. She was born Sept. 1835 in Tn. They were married in Bond County, Ill. (Greenville, Ill)
