I'm wondering if this family could be related to the Eakin family reported in "The History of Some Ailken-Eakin Families" compiled by (Mrs.) E.E. Cleland (nee Jennie Eakin) self published in 1929. If you enter Cleland in the Search box for the forum it will give you post numbers 134, 145, 213, 461, and 551. They will give you info from that book. You can use the Jump to # box to get to them quickly.

The beginning of that family is this:
First Generation:
Unknown Eken: Children: Joseph Eken born ?Antrim, Ireland; James Eken, born ?Antrim Ireland; John Eken.
Second Generation:
Joseph Eken
James Eken
John Eken b. 1758 Antrim, Ulster, Ireland died 11 April 1826, m. Jane Thompson who was b. abt. 1758, Antrim, Ulster, Ireland, d. 11 Aug 1824
Children: William, George Eakin, Margaret, John.
Third Generation:
William Eakin b. 16 May 1780 County Antrim, Ireland, D. 13 Sept 1886, Columbianna Co., Ohio, m. 6 Sept 1809 ?Columbia Co., OH.-Mary Patton b. 1782, D. 19 Aug 1850
Children: John, Hugh, George, nathan, Eliza, William, Mary.

Could this be your George Sr.?

George Eakin b. 24 May 1782, Antrim, Ulster, Ireland, D. 26 May 1863, Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, m. 1816 Martha Patton.
Children:Hugh, John, William, George W. (Aikin), Jane, Eliza, Mary, James, Margaret.

Margaret Eakin b. Abt. 1784, Antrim, Ulster, Ireland, D. 3 June 1850, Laurence, PA, m. 1 July 1806 Nathan Patton.
Children: Hugh, John E., Jane, William, Eliza, George, Mary, Margaret, Nathan, Rebecca.

John Eakin b. Abt. 1788, Antrim, Ulster, Ireland, D. 1849 New market, Carrol Co., PA, m. 1808, Jennie Witherspoon.
Children: Jane T., Elizabeth, Margaret, Mary Ann, William, George W., Sarah, David, John.

Hope this helps. Always hoping that somehow this will lead to finding my family connection from William Eaken, D. 1766 Noxamixon, Bucks Co., PA to Northern Ireland as our family lore purports.
