John Emison, the original member of this branch of Emisons in America, was born in Ireland about the year 1802.His parents disd when he was quite young, and he was adopted by an aunt named McKnight who brought him from Ireland to Moore Co., N.C. in 1809...In 1820 John mison married Margaret (Boals) Bowles of N.C., who was born in 1799..... This family moved to eastern Tenn. in 1823 and settled near the community of Cotton Grove. In 1832, they moved to Crockett Co. in western Tenn. John, who died in 1844, and Margaret Emison, who died in 1874, had six sons and six daughters, seven of whom were still living in 1887. These children included: (1)James Emison b. 1821 Moore Co., N.C. - d. Crockett Co., Tenn. married 1846 to Sarah Bowlton b. 1822. (2)William Emison b. Moore Co., N.C. Married in 1974 to Bedie Richards, married secondly to _____Richards. (3) Robert Emison (4) Benjamin Emison (5) John Emison, Jr. (6) Joseph Eldridge Emison (7) Lucile Emison (8) Martha Emison The children of John Emison Jr. are listed as: (1)Dr. Issac H. Emison b. Little Rock, Ark. on ___May, 1857 and Died 29 March, 1941. (2)Mary Emison b. 1864 - d. 6 March, 1936. Married _____Marlow. (3) J. Wilson Emison b.1865 - d. 20 April, 1941 (4) J.E. Emison b. 7 March, 1870 (5) Jessee Lee Emison b. 1877, Vilonia, Ark. (6) Frank Emison d. Sept., 1936 (7)Sallie Emison married ___Gilliam. She died in Mt. View, OK.
