This may not help you but I thought I should pass it on anyway: John Erving wa on the Roster of Company D, 53rd Massachusetts Volunteers. www.intac.com/blenderm/53rd_Mass_f/companyD.html also a John Erving was a shipbuilder in Boston about 1732 or 33. This may be the same family. I have searched through the Erving family as my John Box came into Boston port as a laborer. Thought he may have met John Box's daughter, who may have been Deborah. There is a John Box with the first name of Deborah, I loose it there.
