John Joseph Erving's ancestors were from Salem MA. He was b. July 04, 1832 in West Harfrod, CT. The information I have is:

"The Erving family came from Salem, MA and settled in Hartford County, CT and from West Hartford, (Dora's grandfather), who was a boot maker, came to East Hartford, bringing with him his son, John J. .... (paraphrazed from "Commemorative Biographical Record of Hartford County, Connecticut" 1901; p.666)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
