As you already know Fadler is a very rare surname in the United States. I have not found anyone researching any Fadler Families since I started researching my ancestors a year ago. I noticed that many of the names and places on your posting are similar to mine. I hope you can help me somehow link my ancestors up with yours. My ancestor who came to the United States is Henry D. Fadler born as Dietrich Heinrich Fadler. The following is a copy of his birth and baptism certificate that was found in his civil war pension file at the National Archives in Washington DC. This copy is said to be from the registry of the birth and baptism of the church book for the community at Eiszel from the year 1841 No. 14 page 106.
To Hausler John Fadler at Eiszel, was born from his wife Anna Hedwig Schmidt the 30th November in the morning at 8 o'clock the Year 1841 a son, who was baptised on the 12th of December of the same year and name Dietrich Heinrich.
Witnessed by Hausler Gerhard Fadler of Wester Wisch, John Henry Schmidt of Burgerei and August Schmidt of Riede.
Thedinghausen the 13 of July 1860.
Of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Herzogthuma Braunschweig.
Braunschweig is about 40 miles east of the city of Hannover. According to the pension files, Henry left Germany in 1856 at the age of 15. He moved to Preble County, Ohio. The Civil War would start 5 years later. He joined the 191st Ohio Volunteer Infantry near the end of the war and was placed in Company K. He enlisted Feb. 16, 1865 at Dayton, Ohio and was discharged Aug 27, 1865 at Winchester, Virginia. A certified copy of his marriage record shows that he married Margaret Wicke on Oct. 18, 1865 in Lewisburg, Preble County, Ohio. Married by the Evangelical Lutheran Pastor, George Baughman. He lived in Preble County for almost 52 years. In 1908 he moved to Oklahoma to be closer to some of his children. He died in Hitchcock, Oklahoma and was sent by train back to Ohio to be laid to rest. Henry D. Fadler died Jul. 26, 1913 and is buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery near West Alexandria, Twin Township, Preble County, Ohio. The children of Henry and Margaret are

9. Dora J. b. Mar 12, 1880
10. Vermont D. b. Mar 1883 d. 1960
All of the above children of Henry and Margaret were born in Preble County. Caroline Fadler is my direct ancestor and was married to Levi Baker. They too are buried at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Preble County.
