Hello I am just beginning my search for Filipiak relatives and have been surprised to find so many references on the internet! My grandfather John Filipiak was born in pittsburgh I believe. His birthdate was 1918. Supposedly his mother came here through new york around age 10-15 in the 1890s. She came from Poland and didn't speak any English when she got here! Does that relate to your story?

Any help would be nice!
Valerie Kirch
