My grandfathers name was Richard George Flannigan or maybe Flanagan. My dad is Virgil Flannigan, his birth cert says Flanagan, but relatives told him the other spelling was correct. His father (Richard) left town (Lafollete TN) when Virgil was 3 mo. old. Virigl's mother died when he was 9. The relatives naturally disliked, or at least had no use for Richard Flannigan, so no one bothered to try and find him or keep up with his whereabouts.
The only info I have is on dad's Birth cert. and it is sketchy at best. Richard is said to have been from Illinois (this is where he and my grandma Leah met) and yet dad's birth cert says Richard was born in TN. It is said he left Leah and Baby and went back to IL. Any help would be appreciated.
