I might be related to the James Clair Flood you are referring to (if you are referring to the one who struck it rich in the California Gold Rush). My family isn't positive about this, but we think one of our direct relatives, William Flood(my great great great (great?) grandfather) was maybe his brother. If that's true James would be be a Great Uncle of some sort. It fits because my family of Floods all came from Ireland and went to Staten Island, New York where James Clair Flood was born.
