We have corresponded through email on a couple of occasions. I am so glad to find your posting, as I had lost touch with you. I promised a while back to scan and send you copies of my family and ancestors. I will accomplish now that I have found you again. To the best of my knowledge, Durant owned three slaves and they took his name. I have the names of the slaves from a census performed in the 1800's. He was not a plantation owner, he lived modestly as he had many mouths to feed. In one census he is shown owning approximately 1100 acres of land. Much of this land has been handed down through the generations and there are quite a few foskey's still residing on portions of his acreage. His original house is believed to be still standing and located near Bay Springs Methodist church which is on a county paved road near Scott and Wrightsville, Georgia. He had six sons that served in the War of Northern Agression (Civil War) and three survived. My great great grandfather was Andrew Jackson Foskey. Please keep me post during your quest for our history and I will attempt to fill in your American blanks. I have found Foskeys that predate Durant, some back to the late 1700's and early 1800's in Delaware and Maryland. These would seem to indicate a migration from the Northern colonies to the South or they came to our country in phases...
