Foskey Family Genealogy Forum

Hello,
I just saw your post. I am researching the Foskey family as well. My mother is a Foskey. Her parents, Rufus Lester and Bertha Clyde Foskey are buried in Dead River Cemetery in Georgia. My g-g-grandfather was Emory Allen Foskey. My grandfather always told a story that when Emory and his relatives left the war after Gettyburg, his wife Julie Tyson would take food to him while Emory was hiding in the woods. On one such occasion, a pregnant Julie delivered a baby on one side of the creek, crossed to the other side and delivered another. She carried them home in her apron. A census record indicates that she indeed had twins in 1863 or 1864. Under the names Faskey(misspelling in the records), Allen, Julie and Jonas all received pensions in Montgomery County, Georgia. Durant Foskey received land in the Cherokee Land Lottery. Would you please share any info you have about the Foskeys before Durant? I have been unable to find any records for him before he drew for the land lottery in the 1830's. Any info would be appreciated.
