If you ancestor is from Lancaster it is highly unlikely he will be from the Thirkelby line at least not for centruries back. However my family live(d) not far from there over the border (15 to 20 miles) and it is more likely they are related. Is William from Lancaster itself or the surrounding area? If you give me some clues I might be able to help.
