You might look into this line, it may be connected to your Mary P. French.

William French b ca 1760 no proof only family legend as to his name. (There is a William French in 1810 census of Madison Co. KY. There is a John French in Mason, Mason Co KY living with 7 young children under age 10, Peter would have been 25?) I have seen the name John Peter French in another French line? This could be a family name and Peter could have been this John, speculation of course?

son Peter French b 1785 in TN m Nancy Hanks in Knox Co. Tn on 3 July 1810. Peter was a blacksmith who was in Madison Co KY in 1830 and in Breckenridge Co. KY in 1840 and 1850 censuses, Peter may have been his middle name and not his first name?

Andrew Jackson French my ancestor from this line moved to Gentry Co MO early 1850's and was married to Nancy Ann Hardin they married in Gallatin Illinois and are listed in the 1850 Breckenridge KY census as is Peter French.
