If you are descendant of Philip, son of Isaac, of the Stony Creek area of Shenandoah County, then your earliest known Funkhouser ancestor is Jacob Funkhouser Sr (Jacob Fankhauser, one of three early Funkhouser pioneers who settled in what is now Shenandoah County, VA as early as 1737. Jacob Sr. died near present-day Fishers Hill in Shenandoah County in 1771 and is known to be father of four sons: Jacob Jr. (the one who is listed in records of the French and Indian War), Christian (d. 1793), Isaac (d. 1796) and Abraham (d. 1825). It was once thought that Jacob Sr. John Sr. (Johannes Fankhauser) and Christian, the three early settlers in the Valley were sons of a Johannes SR. b.in 1692,but that model can no longer be supported by the evidence- since it is now known for instance, that Jacob was listed as an adult male in Lancaster County, PA as early as 1724. All the Funkhousers of the Shenandoah Valley in the 18th century are descendants of Jacob and Johannes, since Christian, the third early pioneer moved on to Southwest Virginia and his children went to Tennessee and Kentucky.
There is a lot of information on these early Funkhousers on this site-use the search feature to find out more details.
