For researchers of Davis families in Baker County, I finally found John Davis, b. 1807 in North Carolina listed in the 9th District of Baker County in 1850, living in 1860 in Covington County, Alabama. What a struggle that was. Where is this family in 1870? His wife is Margaret, b. ca. 1820 in either Georgia or North Carolina (she is listed born in 1820 in Georgia in the 1850 census of Baker County, Georgia and born 1835 in North Carolina in 1860 Covington, Alabama). Children: William A. Davis, b. 1843 in Alabama or Florida. Sarah Ann Davis, born 1846 in Florida. Andrew J.Davis, b. 1848 in Georgia. John Joshua Davis, born 1849 in Georgia. James A. Davis, b. 1852 in Georgia. Mary C. Davis, born 1853 in Alabama. Andrew W. Davis, born 1855 in Alabama. and Elizabeth M. Davis, born 1858 in Alabama. From the birth of the children it appears John Davis and his family was in Alabama or Florida when their first two children were born, 1843 and 1847. Then in Georgia for the next two, 1850 and 1852. Then the last three listed in the 1860 census, which is the last one I can find them in; those three children are listed born in Alabama from 1853 to 1860. Were the two children born in Florida born in the area just over the border of Florala, Alabama in Walton or Santa Rosa (Okaloosa) counties, Florida? My ggggdfather was a (name unknown Davis married to Priscilla, b. 1810 in North Carolina, living in Baker County, Georgia from 1830-1870. The fact that John Davis, b. 1807, was in Baker County is in the same district as my Davis family in 1850 suggests perhaps a relationship. Is this John Davis part of the John Davis family that was in Covington County, Alabama in 1840? If so, what is the connection. I would greatly appreciate any help.
