Help! I'm confused concerning some reference material and need assistance. According to 'The History of Randolph County Georgia Volume II', James Washington Perry (b. 12 Aug 1831, d. 6 Apr 1906) had two sons by first wife Nancy Ann Maples (b.1831, d.1852). In the book they are listed as Joseph Edward Perry (b. 14 Nov 1850 Baker County, GA, d. 18 Aug 1918) and James Jackson Perry (b. 20 Jan 1852 Baker County, GA, d. 24 Sept 1943). In 1855 James Washington Perry married his second wife, Martha Castleberry (b.1830, d.1866). She had three children with James - Calvin, Eliza and Susan. So far, so good? The confusion occurs when I look at the Decatur County, GA 1860 census. There are two James Perry's listed. One (age 28) married to a Susan, the other (age 35) married to a Martha. The James Perry married to Susan has four children listed - Joseph E. (b.1850), Joshua J. (b.1854), Thomas B. (b.1856) and Francis T. (b.1859) The James Perry married to Martha also has four children - James (b.1850), ? (illegible) (b.1852), Calvin (b.1856) and Eliza (b. 1858). Do you see my confusion here? The book seems to have combined the children of these two Perrys under one James Washington Perry. Can anyone give me the straight scoop on these folks? I have scratched my head over this for awhile now. Thank you for any assistance you may provide. Notify Administrator about this message?
