Thanks Sandra! I do have a copy of the Decatur County Past and Present book and feel very lucky to have so much information on the Rich line. I have also seen references to that Rigsby book, but did not know the exact title. I will definitely browse through that book next time I hit the library. Many of my ancestors are from those counties. As for Hattie Pierce (Pierce) Rich, I have found many Bryants and Pierces/Pearces in the census, but I doubt if there's a will for either of Hattie's parents since they both died so young. She may have also been an only child. My hope is to go to Baker County and find a tombstone for a Pierce with a date close to her birth date. Either that, or to find an old newspaper that might provide a story. This one will probably take some on-site research to solve. Thanks a bunch for the lead on the Rigsby book. I am lucky to live relatively close to the GA Archives, and will see what they have too. I appreciate your taking the time to respond to my query!! Sincerely, Gail Rich Nestor Surnames in Southwest GA: Rich, Harrell, Powell, Clay, Wall, Pierce, Pearce, Jones, Bird, Gainer, Harden, Roe, Rowe, Mikell Notify Administrator about this message?
