The old courthouse burned right after the War of Northern Aggression (a.k.a. "The Late Unpleasantness") and many records were lost, including most deeds / estate records, HOWEVER some were rescued are in a the Probate Court's archive. Suggest that you call the Probate Judge, Judge Todd Blackwell. at (478) 445-4807 (unless they have recently changed the number). He is a gentleman and was very helpful to me. Perhaps you can work out something with him. Regards, and good luck.
