Pamela, I am trying to untangle the early GA Dunns, wonder if ours overlap. I have a lot of GA born John Dunns, none that I know the middle initial. Most of what I have are for Dunns born pre-civil war in GA or earlier in VA or NC. I am not sure how they all tie together, but in my files I've noted that a David Dunn b 25 Sep 1786 NC (married to Susan Bailey) died 14 Jun 1857 Marion Co GA had a son named Greenbury Bailey Dunn b 27 Mar 1827 GA. This Greenbury Dunn married Margaret Seigler, had a number of children (including a son named Geenbury Bailey Dunn) - 7 that I know of - some of whom ended up in TX as did my related lines. As my some of my related Copeland-Dunn family lines also ended up in the same areas of TX, I suspect that they knew they were related. However, I do not understand the links. Descendants of my earliest Dunns came from VA to the Columbia Co. area of GA, and one of his daughters & her Copeland husband settled across the river in Edgefield Dist. SC. Their descendants moved across GA into AL and points westward. I think these other Dunns were all kin, just can't yet untangle them. Any chance that your Augustus Dunn was named James Augustus?
