Melissa Hill was living with the William Poole family because William Poole was her grandfather. She was living with the Ausborn family because Eliza Jane Poole Ausborn was her maternal half-aunt, daughter of William Poole and his second wife, Kezziah Clarkson.

Melissa was the daughter of Zelah Poole and James Hill of Franklin and Jackson Counties in Georgia. Zelah Poole was the daughter of William Abijah Poole and his first wife, Martha Frances Hardman of Oglethorpe County, Georgia. William Abijah Poole was the son of William "Taylor" Poole of the Pacolet River area of South Carolina, and his wife Elizabeth Stovall who was born in Goochland County, Virginia, in 1739.

I am in the process of writing a book about the Poole family (specifically Peter Stovall Poole, son of Abijah Poole and Kezziah Clarkson). It should be ready in 3 to 4 months.
