Melba. I do not have the same email address that I had in 2001 so I only saw this message today visiting the Banks County GA site. Please do not be offended by my interpretation of the notes made on the copy of the letter. I inherited these notes and my grandmother and mother have both passed on and they are not here to defend themselves, or whoever else may have perused the contents of such an eloquent letter. Just this evening I spoke with Mr. Young Jesse Allan III who lives in Powell TN and he believes that he is the last of his line. He has agreed to participate in the Allen/Allan DNA project as well. We have a member of James Allan's line (from a daughter from his marriage to Mary Strickland) who is claiming kin to our line of Allens way back in the mid to early 1700's. My early Allens signed with an X so it's hard for me to say which way they would have signed had they been literate. My gg grandfather Thompson Henson Allen died in Alto GA and did live in the area of Allantown or close to it when he died. He was a circuit preacher and one of his churches was in Maysville, Banks Co GA. His daughter Zora married Marcus Hampton from Banks Co. There was also another set of Allens in the area that were from a nephew of my gg as well. I did not know about Elvy Allen or Jane Anderson Allen. I did know about Edwin M, but was not sure of his parentage. I will plug all of this stuff in and see what I can find. Cheryl Cheryl30523@yahoo.com (my name and my zip code) I have an office in Banks Co if you are close please drop by Notify Administrator about this message?
