I am trying to locate some information about a fire that burned a tourist house in Jan 1957, probably in Macon, Ga. It was probably on or near rte 41. There were two tourists staying in the house but they left about 2 in the morning. They did not notify anyone of their leaving and it was supposed they might have died in the fire. My husband and I were those tourists and we have been trying to get more information about the fire. I have had two people check the newspapers for Macon at that time and nothing was reported but I am hoping someone remembers hearing about it. We had left because we had a funny feeling about staying there. We were only 19 at the time and like most young people it didn't occur to us to let anyone know we were leaving.
If anyone has any information about that fire I would like to hear from you.
