Tabernacle Methodist church is located 7 miles west of Sandersville on Ga. Hwy 24.W. The church cemetery is the final resting place of over 200 members of the church and surrounding community. The first known burial took place about 1898 and it is still an active church and cemetery.
In an effort to raise funds to support the Tabernacle Cemetery Trust, information is being gathered on those who rest at Tabernacle and the families who lived in the Tabernacle Community. A meeting will be held Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Schoolhouse on the grounds of the church. The information will be compiled into a book to be sold for the benefit of the Cemetery Trust.
Please bring pictures, obituaries and any other information you would like to share or just come and visit with us. We will be able to make copies of your pictures, so you need not give up your family heirlooms. Tanner, Tompkins, Brooks, Blount, Brookins, Blue, Doolittle, Fowler, Jones, Johnson, Horton, Hitchcock, Osborne, Parker, Page , Poole, Prince, Roberson, Sellars, Sheppard, Shurling, Waller, Yates, Todd, Trawick, Turner, Veal, Lord, May, Meeks are some of the names of those buried at Tabernacle.
