William St. Johns (b. 1834) and Emily Davis (b. 1836) married 1852 in Baker County, Georgia.
William and Emily Davis St. Johns are listed in 1860 Marion County, Florida census. In 1870 they are in Mitchell County, Georgia.
By 1880, William is dead and his wife, Emily, is living in Brooks County, GA in the household of her married son, Edward. Also in the household are her unmarried sons, Thomas,16, and Johnny, 12, and unmarried daughter, Sophronia,18. Emily's married daughter, Prescilla, 26, is living closeby with her husband, Henry C. Hayes, 33, and their son Willie,3.
Sophronia St. Johns married John Lafayette Walsingham ca. 1890. John Lafayette Walsingham died June 1923. Sophronia St. Johns Walsingham died Oct 1940. Both are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Gainesville, Florida.
Need info whether or not Lenora Hayes, daughter of Henry C. Hayes and Prescilla St. Johns, married Sam Cumbass. ("Sam" listed in 1900 Brooks Co, GA census, Quitman District, ED #5, Sheet No. 22 B) census is hard to read, which means it could be something other than Sam, but the name does start with an "S")
How is Sam Cumbass related to the James Cumbass (aka Cumbast) family listed in Baker County in 1850, and in Camilla, Mitchell County in 1870 census? Who are Sam's parents?
Henry and Prescilla St. Johns Hayes are in Brooks County, GA 1880 & 1900. Lenora (b. 1881) married to "Sam" Cumbass (b. 1867) is living next door in 1900 Brooks County.
Lenora and "Sam" Cumbass had one daughter by 1900, Bertha Cumbass, b. March 1897.
